It is considered the Jewel of Llano and the birthplace of civilisations. Only 13km from the capital of Albacete, it is well-connected by the highway with the centre of Spain and the Levantine coast.

This Medieval Villa has a great history, one full of important civilisations, conquests, sieges and passion for a city that dominates the plain from its incredible viewpoints, from its San Cristóbal hill and the imposing Castle fortress built by the Marquis of Villena in the mid-15th century.
Chinchilla de Montearagón preserves the beauty of its Medieval layout and has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site. A must-visit is the Plaza Mayor, also called Plaza de la Mancha, where you can find the Church of Santa María del Salvador. Inside there is an image of San José de Salzillo and an image of the Parish Museum and the Virgin of las Nieves, the Patroness.
Its Town Hall has facades from the 16th and 18th centuries, the old Prison, the Palatial Houses of the López de Haro and the Nuñez de Robles.
The National Ceramic Museum needs a well-deserved visit. Archaeological remains have been found in the Pozo Moro Necropolis.
In the Hondón neighbourhood, there are numerous Cave Houses, typical architecture of the area that is integrated into the rock, at the foot of the wall characterised by white chimneys that divide the exterior space while the interior is excavated in the rock. On the outskirts, you can find traces of the archaeological past in the Pozo de la Peña or Peñuela site.
Famous is its Christmas Nativity Scene, which every year includes a new Castle of Spanish territory, also well known for the quality and incomparable setting of its Classic Theatre Festivals, of great fame and prestige, celebrated in July.
