The beautiful town of Fuensanta hidden in the province of Albacete, very close to La Roda, is a very charming town, which owes its name to a beautiful legend that tells of the apparition of the Virgin to a shepherd who was at a fountain. In that very place the shrine would be built, which later became a convent and next to it, the town was born. Fuensanta gets its name from the holy fountain it has, found inside a chapel at the Sanctuary of the Lady of Remedies. It is said that water has never stopped flowing from that fountain.
The 16th century convent, which belongs to the religious order of the Trinitarians, along with its Our Lady of Remedies Monastery were declared National Historical-Artistic Monuments in 1973.
One of the essentials in the town of Fuensanta is the Camarín de la Virgen de los Remedios. A true work of art. His baroque-style fresco paintings are impressive. Inside is the Virgin of Remedies except during May due to the celebration of the Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Remedies where the Virgin is taken to La Roda.
Another stop is “Villa Manolita”, a hotel that looks as though it came straight out of print.
