Where art becomes part of the landscape. This route is located in the small and beautiful town of Bogarra, which surprises with its mountainous character and its numerous forests, rivers and streams. It belongs to the Sierra del Segura region. The trail of the Bogarra River flows past one of the town’s greatest attractions: the sculpture trail.
All the sculptures you will see are hand carved. The origin of this is thanks to two residents of the town, who decided to combine art and nature to bring this trail to life. They began to work the rock outdoors and since then, sculptors from different parts of Spain have gathered to celebrate the Landscape Sculpture Workshops.
This is a trail through an exceptional natural landscape of great beauty, running along the Bogarra River through wooden bridges, streams, waterfalls, and pools – an ideal path to do with family and children, due to the simplicity of the route.
What makes this trail unique is that there are more than 60 sculptures of stone, wood and metal that are along the entire route, a true marvel! An open air museum.
The route begins in the Bogarra Town Hall Square., Always make sure to follow the “Sculpture Route” signs that will guide you through the town. Once you reach the river and after crossing the bridge over it, the path begins on the right, a giant spider sculpture welcomes you.
Keep your eyes peeled! The sculptures are everywhere. The path will always follow the bed of the Bogarra River, crossing it on several occasions.
If you want a longer route, you can extend it by visiting the Batán de Bogarra Waterfalls, a natural area of great beauty.
