In Nerpio, enter the world of fairies and goblins on the Zarzalar trail.
This trail runs through the interior of the Taibilla River Canyon, a free route, where you can enjoy a magical natural environment with a great variety of flora and fauna everywhere you look.
Nerpio is one of the most picturesque towns in the Sierra del Segura and is characterised by having more than 70% of all the Rock Art of Castilla – La Mancha. All this cultural legacy means it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Zarzalar is a circular trail with a length of just over 9 kilometres and an estimated duration of 4 hours. It is of easy difficulty, but not recommended for people with mobility problems. You have to be careful with children under 10 years old and wear appropriate footwear for walking in the mountains. The route runs along the banks of the Taibilla River where you will have fun crossing the river on hanging bridges and walkways using handrails.
Another essential thing to do in Nerpio is visiting the Taibilla castle, a historical construction of great importance given its proximity to Granada. During the Reconquista it was a prominent point, since it controlled the passage with the Kingdom of Granada. Today, its access is free, and its tower offers an incredible panoramic view.
