The setting of the film “Amanece, que no es poco (Dawn breaks, which is no small thing)” takes place in the towns of Aýna, Liétor and Molinicos, three towns in the Sierra del Segura, where José Luis Cuerda from Albacete filmed his most famous film in the summer of 1988.
Aýna is known as “The Switzerland of La Mancha”. The Virgen de los Remedios church houses the Amanece Interpretation Centre, which is something that will delight all lovers of surrealist cinema. The vast majority of settings are outdoors, so they can be visited at any time of the day.
At the Ayna Tourist Office, a street map is provided with all the whereabouts of the filming locations of the scenes, all of them marked with large signs with a number and description of the scene filmed in that place. There is the possibility of visiting all these places with guided tours from the Ayna Tourist Office.
Molinicos is located in a mountainous enclave. The sets of the film in Molinicos can be enjoyed through a lovely guided walk through the old town and the “open sky” museum. The walk runs through the lower part of the town, which preserves traditional mountain walls and houses, natural areas such as the Charca de los Molinos and architectural places such as the Arco Medieval bridge.
A must-see is the Mycological Museum “Casa del Níscalo”, which focuses on the study of fungus, mushrooms and truffles. It is the only museum in Castilla dedicated to mycology.
Liétor became the most beautiful town in Castilla-La Mancha in 2017. A town where some scenes from the film by a well-known filmmaker were also filmed. The Shrine of Bethlehem may well be the most representative. It is recommended to stop by the tourist office and request the film route brochure. The Shrine of Bethlehem can only be done through a guided tour with the tourist office
