Located in the municipality of Nerpio, nothing compares to this set of rock paintings of Levantine art. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, for being a Rock Art of the Mediterranean Arc of the Iberian Peninsula asset. These are some of the most significant and spectacular remains that can be found in Castilla-La Mancha. “It represents 70% included in the World Heritage List of rock art and 15% at a national level.”
The Torcal de las Bojadillas stands out for its large number of figures. “In total there are more than 1,000 figures in the shelters, which constitutes the most notable concentration point of prehistoric art in the region,” says the professor.
Similarly, this shelter has a particular characteristic that makes it unique compared to the rest of Nerpio and Levantine art – the abundance of “extraordinarily small” figures of three to five centimetres.
In the Torcal de las Bojadillas, hanging about eight metres high from the ground, you can find platforms adjusted to the ledge that allow the visitor to be in an optimal position to see the cave paintings and the unbeatable views of the surroundings.
