Almansa, a land with a Designation of Origin. A City that changed the history of the world forever. One of the most decisive battles of the so-called War of the Spanish Succession.
On April 25, 1707, Philip V’s army managed to defeat the forces of Archduke Charles in the small La Mancha town of Almansa. This victory changed the course of the war, allowing the Bourbons to go on the offensive by conquering the kingdom of Valencia and taking the city of Lérida.
At the foot of the castle is the building that houses the museum and Interpretation Centre, located in the same building as the Tourist Information Office. It has three interactive rooms where you can discover all the details of the day that changed Spain’s history. During the tour, there are several information points with interactive screens. A spectacular audiovisual concludes the visit.
There are guided tours of the Battlefield. You can see the real scenes of the combat that changed our history forever. It will allow you to understand what these confrontations were like and the importance of the relief, vegetation, buildings and other historical data. It begins at the Tourist Office and lasts approximately 2 hours and covers a distance of about 7 kilometres.
